  1. Brownsea Island

Family scouting camp a few weeks ago on the extraordinary oasis of Brownsea Island, Poole Harbour, Dorset. Red squirrels, huge wood ants, swarms of goddam mossies yes. Glow worms no. Pesky glow worms!

  2. Gee Vaucher

In case ya missed it, Gee Vaucher’s mindblowing CRASS ART AND OTHER PRE POSTMODERNIST MONSTERS 1961 – 1997 was reissued last month (on Gee Vaucher and Penny Rimbaud’s Exitstencil Press). And don’t those old Crass covers still look totally great – and (old fart alert) remind you how much yer missing with artwork/mythology-free downloads. Do you want to check it out here – course you fucking do!

  3. Lido

Plymouth Hoe’s magic Art Deco Lido ‘Tinside’ showed up here last month so Janner props to Darren Hayman’s new Lido CD (on Clay Pipe Music who put out the very great Tyneham House CD last year) which has a track called Tinside. You can hear the whole thing here. Even better bag yourself the artfully packaged CD. Remember kids, it’s open air or saltwater else it’s nothing at all!

  4. the Devil’s Quoits

The reconstruction of the Devil’s Quoits, a stone circle and henge at Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire. Improbably located between a landfill site, a lake formed by gravel extraction pit and a recycling centre (the rural idyll of middle England or wot?), the site is pretty damn vibey. Can’t remember ever seeing so many damselfies in one place either. Makes ya think prehistoric reconstructions are the way forward, yeah?

  5. Nowhere Island: Now Here Is Land

Alex Hartley/Situations’ intriguing and excellent Nowhere Island project is travelling around the SW coast until September. Here it is, moored in Plymouth Sound on Thursday, with the embassy parked up on Jennycliff. Yeah, we’ve become citizens and have offered our own suggestions for the constitution. We’ll probably be back there for the Bristol leg next month too. Hopefully there will be less stinking, rotting seaweed than there was on Jennycliff Beach!). Check it out here.

  6. Tinside

Tinside saltwater lido on Plymouth Hoe. The best swimming pool in the universe. And maybe the coldest water too.

  7. Hampton stone circle

    Hampton stone circle, Dorset. OOOOOOFFFFF!

  8. Drizzlecombe

Drizzlecombe, Dartmoor. Man it’s good to be back on the moor.

  9. Stonehenge Fire Garden 2

  10. Stonehenge Fire Garden

Compagnie Carabosse’s Stonehenge Fire Garden 11th July 2012, part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival. Woh! Note ludicrously rare photograph of rain-free sky. Will puking in hedge not shown.
